Sub Zero Refrigerator Prices

Sub-Zero refrigerator freezers are amongst the most expensive kitchen appliances readily available to residential buyers, and Sub Zero refrigerator prices reflect this – as will be shown below.

Despite this the reviews of the Sub-Zero preservation line show them to be very popular with well-heeled homeowners seeking to build their dream kitchen.  Their attractive features include dual compressors and dual evaporator coils as part of their dual zone refrigeration technology.

PRO 48 Refrigeration

The Sub Zero PRO 48 is one of the premium fridge freezers available, and is considered by many to be the best of the Sub-Zero appliances available.  This refrigerator has almost every imaginable feature under the sun, and is priced accordingly. As a bonus, with a wattage requirement similar to that of a 100W light bulb this is a remarkably energy efficient refrigerator.

The 648PRO – pictured on the left – has a beautiful steel finish.  Also available it the 648PROG glass door model – pictured on the right – which offers a handsome combination of steel and glass door. This particular model is built very substantially, the refrigerators shipping weight of 875lbs makes it one of the most solidly built kitchen appliances around – but take care it is not too heavy if you plan to install it anywhere but the ground floor.

This high-end Sub Zero fridge has a correspondingly high price.  While the price of sub zero refrigerator freezers vary over time, you will not find the price of the PRO-48 and PRO-48G to be not less than $15,000 dollars.

Built-In Refrigerator

There are several different Sub-Zero cooling appliances available that can be built-in to a kitchens décor.  Those seeking a sub zero freezer only can opt for the All Freezer BI-36F model, which can usually be found for 5500-6500 dollars, depending on the trim selected.

Homeowners seeking a dedicated Subzero fridge which does not assign capacity to freezer duties can select from the Sub-Zero All Refrigerator range; these include the BI-36R product line.  The BI36RO wooden overlay model generally sells for about $5000 with a wood overlay, while the more upscale BI36RSTH/BI36RSPH stainless steel versions list for a little over $6000. As you will see, you can choose nearly all Sub Zero refrigerator and freezer models with either a wood panel or metal finish.

The BI-36RG, a similar unit with a glass front, sells for a little more. The flush insert BI36GO for just over $6000 and the stainless BI36RGSTH/BI36RGSPH for close to $7000.

Also available are over-and-under Sub Zero refrigerator built in freezer units.  The BI-30U and BI-30UG are 30 inch wide unit are suitable for those needing a narrow Subzero fridge, and products in this lineup range in price from $6500 to $8500 depending on the options chosen.  Those with a little more space have the options of the BI-36U or BI-36UG,  similarly configured models that are 36 inches in width; research indicates pricing on these Sub-zero models will be somewhere in the $7000 to $9000 window.

Sub-Zero Side-by-Side built-in models are available in three different widths.  The BI-36S, BI-42S and BI-48S have widths – as the model numbers suggest – of 36 inches, 42 inches and 48 inches respectively. The smallest of these – the BI36SO 36″ Sub-Zero side by side – sells for about $7000, or $8000 when finished with stainless steel (model BI36SSPH). For the wider 48″ BI48SO expect to be quoted something closer to $8000 for the flush inset model, or $9000 for the stainless BI48SSPH.

Also available in the larger sizes are the BI-42SD and BI-48SD models that offer ice and water dispensing capabilities through the Sub Zero fridges door, which sell for just a little under $10000 each.

Many consider these particular Sub Zero refrigerator reviews to reflect their opinion that these are the ultimate appliances for upscale kitchen remodels.

Integrated Refrigeration

A buyer seeking a built-in design that integrates into the kitchens décor has a number of Sub Zero integrated refrigeration options to choose from.

Starting with the All Freezer options there are some very narrow freezer column units available – the IC-27FI and 700TFI – which are only 27 inches in width, and sell for around $6000.  If more space is available, the 36 inch 736TFI is a larger Sub-Zero All Freezer option that costs a little under $7000.

The Sub Zero All Refrigerator line includes some similarly configured refrigeration models.  There are two 27 inch refrigerator column models – the IC-27R and 700TCI for $6000 – plus the 36 inch width 736TCI. The Sub Zero fridge price point for these two models is about $7000 also.

Shoppers seeking a combination unit have the choice of the 27 inch 700TCI or the 36 inch 736TCI Sub-Zero Refrigerator/Freezer options. Many people favor the look of a Subzero refrigerator of the counter depth style over the other choices out there.

Sub Zero Wine Storage

Sub-zero also manufactures a variety of high end wine refrigerators.  On the small end are the tiny 424 Wine Storage cooler – available both built-in and free-standing – and the 2000 dollar 315W Wine Storage – a very narrow appliance at only a little over 15 inches in width.

As well as these. Sub Zero also manufactures some full height wine bars.  These include the 27 inch 427 and 427R Wine Refrigerator units which sell for roughly $6000 dollars , and the attractive 30 inch WS-30 Wine Storage appliance.  This model will likely set a buyer back between $5500 and $7000 dollars, depending on whether the WS3oO overlay of WS30STH stainless steel version is selected.

Undercounter Refrigeration

The Sub-zero range includes several 24 inch under counter refrigeration solutions.  These consist of the UC-24BC Beverage Center, the $1700 UC024R All Refrigerator, the UC-24C Refrigerator/Freezer and the $2500 UC-24RO Outdoor Refrigerator.

Also available in the firms under counter fridge line-up are the 27 inch wide 700BC(I) Combination Drawers, 700BF(I) Freezer Drawers and 700BR Refrigerator Drawers models at $3500; plus the tiny 15 inch wide Sub-Zero UC-15I Ice maker which can likely be found for less than $3000 depending on if an outdoor model or drain pump is chosen.

Sub Zero Refrigerator Prices

Unfortunately, Sub Zero refridgerator prices are held close to their chest.  Subzero prices and policies reflect the pricing model of many high end appliance manufacturers – namely that if you need to ask about Subzero pricing you quite likely cannot afford it. Sub Zero prices refrigerator freezers very high indeed. Please note that while we are fans of their products, here at http://www.fridgefreezersite.com we do not sell them – so do not have access to exact prices. However, the numbers provided above are our best estimates of late-2011 prices based on considerable research; the Sub Zero refrigerator dealers will let you know the prices they are willing and able to sell for.  These figures should just be considered rough guidance for the planning stage of your purchase.

There are many reasons that the Subzero refrigerator collection is able to successfully command the price premium it does.  First of these is the brand.  Sub-Zero and Viking are probably the leading kitchen appliance brands sought out when wealthy shoppers undertake a no holds barred kitchen remodel.  The prestige associated with the brand can also offer a bump to a homes resale value, something lesser premium brands may not offer. Secondly, Sub zero refrigerator reviews are often found in high end interior decorating magazines, which only adds to their appeal.

A family owned and operated business, Subzero/Wolf has been able to avoid commoditizing its products.    By thinking in the long term the firm maintains the value of its brand.  All of the Sub-Zero preservation products are manufactured and inspected in factories within the United States, which allows the company to closely monitor quality.  All of this means that it is not common to find Sub Zero refrigerators for sale; however, you can occasionally get a discount by taking advantage of rebates when you purchase several different Sub Zero appliances as a package.

One final note, when you invest this much in a refrigerator it is important to take proper care of it.  Use only manufacturer approved Sub Zero parts to maintain your fridge, and have any sub zero repair work done by  a factory authorized repairman  in order to preserve the warranty and maximize the life of your investment.

You should expect to pay thousands for even the most inexpensive Sub Zero appliances and potentially much more for some of their higher-end products; unfortunately Sub Zero refrigerator cost comparisons rarely yield pleasant surprises.  Sub Zero fridge prices being what they are, these appliances are suitable for only the most discerning of customers.

Freezers

Purchasing new freezers for the home or business can require a substantial capital investment.  For this reason it is important when shopping for a freezer that you know which model is right for you.

If your needs are modest, a compact freezer may give you that few extra cubic feet of storage capacity you need.  Available at very modest prices, these small freezers are a great solution for anyone needing a little extra freezer space with a minimal outlay of cash.

While compact freezers offer limited capacity, they are highly portable freezers and are very popular amongst budget buyers.

The second types of freezer units that are commonly purchased are upright freezers.  An upright freezer offers a substantial amount of frozen good storage in a slimline freezer form factor.

These units look similar to the traditional refrigerator as they stand upright with a limited use of floor space.  This makes them the ideal freezing appliance for homes that have limited space but need a lot of freezer storage.

The third choice for a new freezer is to purchase a deep chest freezer unit.  Chest freezers take up a lot of floor area, but are very short.  They offer a larger amount of freezer storage for the dollar than other types of freezer appliances.

When you want a freezer large enough to store all your bulk foods without trouble – and if you have place in your home large enough for their significant footprint – then energy efficient deep chest freezers are the way to go.

One factor to consider when purchasing a deep chest freezer is that they will need to be properly organized if you are to gain the maximum benefit from one of these very large freezers.

Without any kind of storage system inside a chest freezer is basically a big cold box.

This setup will quickly lead to serious chaos in the unit, and you will have a lot of difficulty finding a particular item once you have placed it inside.

This means it is almost an imperative to invest in quality wire freezer baskets for your deep chest freezer.

Through the use of a good set of stackable freezer baskets it is possible to convert your huge frozen chest into what approximate a collection of mini-freezers.

Each stacking freezer basket is used for storage of particular kind or type of food, which means that when it comes time fetch something from the freezer the task will be much simpler than it would otherwise.

Purchasing a new freezer requires careful consideration of your storage needs and your available space.  I hope this article has provided some insights that will help you decide between compact freezers, upright freezers or deep chest freezers.

Small Refrigerators – 8 Compact Fridge Options

If you are in need of refrigeration, but have limited space to place appliances, you are probably in need of a small fridge or small freezer.  There are many different kinds of compact fridges, with models suitable for nearly every conceivable application.  This article briefly discusses some of the available small fridge freezer options that may be suitable for a particular need.

Slimline Fridges

Click to Buy Discount Small Refrigerators!

Many kitchens have very limited space available for appliances; and need small refrigerators that are sized accordingly.  For a kitchen that has a narrow space available against one of the walls – that runs from floor to ceiling without obstacles such as cabinets – then a Slimline fridge freezer is a great match.

Under Cabinet Fridge Freezer

Other small kitchens may not even have this much space; if space can be found beneath a cabinet it is possible to purchase an under cabinet fridge freezer.  These appliances are installed in a similar manner to integrated dishwashers, and tuck nicely away into a small space without adversely impacting your kitchens floor plan.

Compact Fridges

Some kitchens simply do not have for an ‘installed’ refrigerator at all.  For these situations the best solution can be a compact countertop fridge.  These models are generally very cheap and have a minimum set of features.  Simply plug them in, and sit them on a countertop or table – or even on the floor in an out of the way spot.

Bar Fridges

Not all fridge freezers are intended for kitchen use.  One popular use for a small refrigerator with freezer is to use them as a mini bar fridge.  These mini fridges are available in two types.  Firstly there are general purpose portable fridges that have been ‘assigned’ the task of holding the drinks – a no frills but budget friendly option.  Secondly a wide variety of ‘specialized’ bar fridges are also available – these mini fridges with freezers come loaded with features, and can cost a significant amount.

Dorm/Office Fridges

Many dormitory rooms or office spaces have a need for a small fridge to allow refrigeration and/or freezing of food and drinks in a location that is convenient to the user of the space.  Popular choices for this application are any of the portable or compact fridge freezers available on the marketplace.

RV/Caravan Fridges

Many people install a small refrigerator or small freezer for use in their RV, travel trailer or caravan.  For this application one of the better choices is a 3 way fridge.  These versatile refrigerators can be powered off of mains power, 12v DC or Propane; allowing great flexibility as to when and how these appliances can be ran.

Car Fridges

A fridge or fridge freezer intended primarily for use in a vehicle will need to have 12v DC power capability.  Ideally a specialized 12v DC fridge with quality compressor based technology will be utilized.  While a 3 way fridge will do in a pinch, they have serious drawbacks that seriously limit their effectiveness as a car refrigerator.

Camping Fridges

The ideal fridge freezer for camping purposes is a 3 way fridge.  The already mentioned ability to operate these devices off either gas or electricity offers great flexibility.  The stationary nature of a campground allows easy setup of a propane tank to power the fridge when electricity is not available.

As has been demonstrated, there are a lot of potential uses for small fridges.  This brief run-down of some of the more popular usages should get you started in identifying the correct small fridge freezer or small refrigerator for you.  Keep in mind also that if money is tight there are many cheap small refrigerators available in stores.

Cheap Refrigerators

Advertisers and manufacturers would have their consumers believe that bigger is always better; but the truth is that more modest cheap refrigerators can be a great option for many people.

The fact is, there are literally hundreds of appliance options out there available for purchase, and each one will be appropriate for someone. Instead of always going for the most fancy and most high-tech piece of equipment, consider addressing your needs while staying within your budget. Below are some helpful advice and tips on how to locate a great cheap refrigerator without compromising either your requirements or your budget.

Click to Buy Cheap Refrigerators from Amazon!

In modern households, refrigeration is an absolute necessity. While most renters have their appliances taken care of by a landlord, homeowners are often faced with the challenge of fridge shopping. Whether you are purchasing your first discount refrigerator or upgrading an existing one, you will be faced with countless brands and features to choose from.  They will all claim to offer the best option, so how do you finalize your purchase decision?

Before even beginning your search, it is important to identify exactly what type of cheap fridge freezers you are looking for. Remember that the term cheap refrigerator is a relative one.  Some will prefer a small compact fridge, while others absolutely require a full-sized American style fridge freezer.

When shopping for a good price, it is important to analyze the features that you are getting in relation to the money you are spending. Consider elements such as size, capacity, style, features, and – of course – price range when purchasing cheap refridgerators.

By making a list of the above-listed items, you will not have to face the considerable challenge of being bombarded with absolutely every option, and feeling overwhelmed or pressured to buy a unit that is beyond your price range and not the best fit for your needs.

Before embarking on your search, know the space you are shopping for. Take measurements of your kitchen area and know exactly where the fridge is to be placed, in order to find a unit that fits properly into the intended area. The size of your fridge should not only be a consideration of the relative kitchen space, but also of the number of people within your household and accordingly, how much your cheap refrigerator will be required to hold. A cheap small refrigerator can be a false economy.

Identify which way you will need the fridge door to swing, to avoid awkward maneuvering during cooking and cleaning. Also, identify whether you will want your freezer to be above, below or beside the fridge compartment.

Is your kitchen finished or unfinished? Regardless of whether you are remodeling or simply replacing an out-of-date appliance, your low price refrigerator will be an investment. Be sure that the style and design that you are purchasing is not only practical, but also fits in with the overall intended design and decor of the kitchen.  Ensure that the cheap refrigerator you buy is a good match for your needs.

If you are going for a modern look, stainless steel is currently one of the most popular styles, but if your kitchen is more traditional, you may choose a slightly less flashy design. Remember that different trends in appliances will be priced according to popularity and demand, so be wary of heightened prices on very basic units.

Once you have addressed all of the above-listed considerations, you may begin your search for discount refrigerators. Once your research has begun you may find that you need to adjust your requirements or price range accordingly, but being aware of exactly what it is you are looking for and exactly how much you are willing to spend will make it much easier to find the perfect refrigerator cheap.

Refrigerator Brands – Choosing The Best

When shopping for a refrigerator, it is second nature to shop based on the brand. There are household brands that are already well known and are well built. Because they have been around for a long time, they have already built a wide customer base. However, new brands are emerging and they are built just as well, if not even better. To find the best refrigerator brands, you must compare the features of both new and established refrigerator manufacturers.

When it comes to choosing the best refrigerator brand that will suit the needs of the family, you should take into consideration the different features that each brand has. One of the most important factors to consider is space. When you rate refrigerators, remember the best refrigerator brands have models with lots of space and compartments for storing different types of food. Pay attention to which models have more drawers for food storage because these can really come in handy.

Refrigerator BrandsRemember that the more people there are in the household, the more food storage space you will need. Top rated refrigerator brands will have crisper drawers for produce at the very minimum. Additional drawers may be incorporated into the design for storage of lunch meats and snacks. Many of the best fridge brands have compartments that are designed specifically for water, milk, or soda.

Make sure the refrigerator door is reversible so that you can change it if you ever remodel your kitchen and need the door to open the other way. High end refrigerator brands usually have a sophisticated automatic defrost system with similar features to those belonging to more basic models. You will also find automatic temperature controls that allow vegetables and fruits to stay fresh longer. This comes in handy for families who consume a lot of fresh produce.

The most costly high end refrigerators – from manufacturers such as Sub-Zero and Viking – are very expensive. If you are seeking a premium refrigerator brand such as one of these have to be willing to pay for the privilege.  It is worth noting that refrigerator ratings for these more products do not automatically reflect the price, a large part of the price premium ties directly to the status associate with owning one of the top refrigerator brands.

The best refrigerator brands may have refrigerators with a freezer compartment that is larger than the standard size. However, other models may not have a freezer at all, so that you can have more room for foods that need to be refrigerated. In that case, you will need to purchase a separate freezer, but if you are going to store large volumes of food in the freezer, you will want a large freezer anyhow.

Of the best rated refrigerator brands, there are many that have models designed to save electricity. These refrigerators still keep food cool but use less energy to do it. While refrigerators like this will cost more, the savings you will have on electricity will be bigger. Look for the Energy Star logo for refrigerators that meet or exceed established standards for energy conservation.

The refrigerator is one of the most important appliances you need to have in your home. It is worth taking the time to thoroughly investigate before making the decision to buy.  Organizations such as ‘consumer reports’ regularly review refrigerators, ratings from these sources are a great source of independent and unbiased information on the reliability and performance of particular brands.  Their refrigerator rating system periodically releases lists of recommended ‘best buys’.

Since fridge freezers are so costly, it is important to do maintenance checks to keep them running smoothly for their designed lifetime. If you purchase well chosen top rated refrigerators and take good care of them, there is no reason they cannot last for many years.

Glass Door Refrigerator

The days of standing, staring into the refrigerator with the door open are over. While normally seen in restaurants, grocery stores or bakeries; glass door refrigerator and freezer units have started to flourish in home interior design.

Not having to open the refrigerator door to see what is inside of it is not only convenient, it helps preserve food longer while saving energy. Quite a lot of people with the goal of having a professional grade kitchen at home – or those that would like to add some unique flair – have embraced the idea of displaying the usually confidential interior of the refrigerator. A premium brand energy star rated fridge with glass door built in to a homes kitchen has recently become quite a status symbol.

Current electronics technology has created a need to have a complete cinema experience at home, including decorating with items such as a commercial popcorn popper and a glass door fridge that adds a bit of personality to the primary design of the room. Small clear glass door beverage refrigerators have been designed with the intention of storing drinks for use in the modern game room; when utilized as glass fronted bar fridges they can hold and display a collection of chilled wines or beers.

It is important to remember that utilizing a refrigerator with glass door at home will make everything inside the refrigerator absolutely visible. In this regard they mimic the way display fridges and display fridge freezers operate in a retail environment.  Some interior decorators are not comfortable with having the contents of glass door refrigerators being able to be seen at all times, and they recommend frosted doors for those who desire glass door fridges but wish to retain a bit of privacy.

Sometimes even the most adamant house cleaners feel a refrigerator with glass doors is too revealing. A compromise is to install one stainless steel fridge door and have one glass to display finished products such as vegetables, cakes or a main course waiting for an upcoming dinner party. Choosing glass front refrigerators from Sub-zero ensures you will end up with high quality models of this type.

Seek out the most energy efficient glass refrigerator doors that are available. A glass fridge can waste enough energy to be highly inefficient if care is not taken in the tempering and installation. Glass doors are easily cleaned with soap and water, and a class cleaner can be used to shine the outside. Bacteria resistant materials have been designed, and better lighting features, more drawer and shelf space are offered with the intention of addressing every possible need.

Regardless of the design or the financial worth of the appliances and gadgets, the one thing every kitchen must have is a refrigerator. A glass door refrigerator freezer complements any room in a fresh, stylish way that cultivates an impression of being in a profitable high-class establishment such as a restaurant while remaining in the comforts of home.

Along with internal capacities and cooling capabilities the design options – such  as standard single, double or even triple or sliding fridge glass doors – is an important consideration. There are numerous unique designs of glass refrigerators, ranging from sports teams to themes, which are available from which to choose when purchasing a clear glass door refrigerator for home use.

  • Why choose GE Monogram over other fridge freezer brands?

The broad selection of models means you can find what you want and GE’s national repair network means you can expect many years of great service.

Maytag Refrigerators

Maytag refrigerators come in a wide range of different styles.  The Maytag refrigerator range includes models in all the following different categories – Side-by-side, French Door Bottom Freezer, Freezer on Top, Freezer on Bottom and finally Maytag Specialty Refrigeration. Within this article I explore these various Maytag refrigerator niches.

The Maytag Side-By-Side Refrigerator

At the time of writing Maytag produced a total of twelve side-by-side models, making it Maytag’s most populated category.  The MSRP of the American style side-by-side refrigerators in this group range from $1000 – a quite reasonable price for the quality of a Maytag appliance – all the way up to $2300.

The Maytag French Door Bottom Freezer

French door refrigerators have acquired a reputation in recent years as being a step-up from the more traditional side-by-side refrigerator freezer.   Maytag has been following this trend with an ever growing range of refrigerators of this type, the number of models they offer is currently ten.  Maytag refrigerator prices for this selection range from $1500 up to $3000.

The Maytag Freezer On Top Refrigerator

Refrigerators with the freezer on top are timeless classics.  This style has been around for many years, and it still great for small kitchens that do not have space for a side-by-side or French door refrigerator. Maytag offers models of this type for buyers, with prices from $900 to $1350.

The Maytag Freezer On Bottom Refrigerator

The freezer on bottom refrigerator is another option that has been with us for a while.  These somewhat narrow refrigerators retain the benefits of freezer on top models – they do not require much space – but are considered more convenient by many as the refrigerator is easily accessed without squatting.  Prices on Maytag bottom freezer refrigerators range from $1300 to $1500.

Maytag Specialty Refrigeration Options

A Guide to Refrigerator Sizes

When picking out a refrigerator, the main feature that everyone looks for is the size. More than anything else, the size determines which refrigerator will be best suited to you. Here is a guide to assist you in learning about the various refrigerator sizes and the benefits of each.

Measure the Dimensions of your Refrigerator Install Space

The first step in choosing the right refrigerator dimensions involves measuring the height and width of the place where you want to position the refrigerator. You must also consider the things that the refrigerator will need, such as a location that is near a power outlet. If you are buying a fridge with a built-in ice maker, then you will also need access to a water line and water filter.

Refrigerator Sizes

How Large is Your Family?

Another factor that determines the right refrigerator size would be the number of household members. The bigger your family size, the bigger refrigerator you need. You must also consider the number and kind of things that you want to store in the fridge. The size determines the storage capacity of your refrigerator. If your family drinks a lot of milk or soda, you will need a large refrigerator to keep it all cold.

Different Types of Fridge Freezers

Refrigerators are classified according to fridge size and capability. A standard size refrigerator is the typical size of refrigerator that is used by most families. There are four basic styles of standard refrigerators, namely top-mount freezer refrigerators, side by side refrigerators, bottom mount refrigerators, and French door refrigerators.

Standard Refrigerator Size Guide for Top Mounts

The top mount refrigerator has an eye level freezer and is the most common fridge on the market, the size of these units is generally somewhere between 29 inches and 36 inches in width, between 62 inches and 69 inches in height, and roughly 26 top 28 inches in depth. This standard fridge size is large enough for a medium size family, but will not provide a lot of extra capacity.  If you do not purchase large amounts of groceries at once, these units can be a good choice. While is it hard to define a set of ‘standard refrigerator dimensions’, these models are a good starting point and can probably be considered the standard family size fridge.

Fridge Sizes for Side-by-Side Refrigerators

On a side by side refrigerator, the fridge and freezer compartments are adjacent to each other, allowing easy access to each part. You might expect this to mean that these units are wider than top mounted freezer units, but the individual compartments are usually quite narrow. The width of these units ranges from 32 to 37 inches – only slightly more than top mounts – but they are usually slightly taller, with heights sometimes topping 70 inches. They are also often slightly deeper, with depths ranging from 28 to 30 inches.  Counter depth models may only have a depth of 24 inches, and the capacity of those units is reduced accordingly.

Refrigerator Size Guide for Bottom Mount Refrigerators

A bottom mount fridge is a unique refrigerator that has the freezer on the bottom to allow it to cool faster.  These units are almost directly comparable in size to top mount freezer units; they are the same basic design flipped upside down. Note that this type of model is generally more expensive than top mounts, and premium brands often sell built-in French door style bottom freezer models that have a depth of 24 inches, but can reach heights of up to 84 inches.  These French door type fridges have dual fridge doors with a freezer drawer that you can easily pull out to get to the food. It is also very easy to see what is inside this type of freezer.

Small Refrigerator Dimensions

An apartment size refrigerator is smaller than the standard size and is designed to fit in a small kitchen. These are amongst the best size of refrigerators for couples who do not have children or small families. They are small enough to fit in spaces where a standard fridge will not go, but large enough to hold a decent amount of food.

For college students, a mini refrigerator is usually the best option. The mini fridge is a space-saving refrigerator that is useful for dorms, motels, and apartments. Its size ranges from as small as 1.5 cubic feet to as big as 5.5 cubic feet. A small refrigerator like this can easily be placed under countertops and concealed in your home bar. This size of fridge is also referred to as a compact refrigerator.

A refrigerator is an important appliance in your home, and you should consider your options carefully before selecting one. Hopefully this rundown of refrigerators by size has given you enough knowledge about the types and sizes of refrigerators to enable you to easily find the perfect fridge.

Freezer Baskets

Anyone who owns a deep chest freezer will testify to the requirement for freezer baskets to effectively organize the contents. Without some careful forethought you are likely to find your freezer jammed full of a random jumble of items without rhyme or reason. To avoid this situation any owner of a large freezer should consider purchasing and using chest freezer baskets.  Unlike upright freezers, deep freezers do not come with built in freezer bins.

In a large freezer items may be stored for many months before being used. Often you will find yourself looking in the freezer at a mysterious container or bag that is covered in frost, and having no idea what is inside or how old it is. This is bad for multiple reasons.

Click to Buy Freezer Baskets on Amazon!

First of all, let us say you are looking for some frozen pork. You will have to rummage through the freezer looking for a bag that looks like it is pork. If you own a chest freezer this can be very rough on your back. Once you finally find what appears to be the right bag you will pull it out, and after it has been defrosted hope your visual inspection was correct and you did end up with what you were looking for. Was it the wrong bag? Oh well…you are stuck eating chicken tonight!

A second concern with unorganized freezers is that it can be very difficult to know how long a frozen item has been in there. With a big deep freezer it is easy to end up with unidentified items that have no indicate of age. Due to this you will likely find yourself throwing away perfectly good food simply because you don’t know how old it is.

By investing in some freezer baskets you can turn the chaos in your freezer into a well-organized, easily accessed frozen paradise. Both sturdy plastic and wire baskets are readily available; your best choice for a material for a chest freezer basket is up to you. If your deep chest freezer is particularly large, you have the opportunity to utilize stackable freezer baskets.  Stackable freezer bins are particularly popular, in some deep freezers these can be stacked 3 or 4 layers deep allowing for a very sophisticated organizational system. When you have several baskets available in your deep chest freezer you gain the ability to organize your food by both type and age. You might have a basket labeled for 2009 Pork, 2009 Chicken, 2010 Pork and 2010 Chicken. This allows you to solve both the issue of unidentifiable type of food, and unidentifiable age of food.

Also, by having everything neatly organized this way, you can find things fast. No more digging through the depths of the freezer item by item. You can also organize so the baskets for the newer food are placed at the bottom. By doing this you can ensure you are rotating your food out regularly. I.e. you will finish off the 2009 pork before starting on the 2010 pork. This will greatly reduce food wastage, thus saving you money.

As has been demonstrated, the benefits of freezer baskets are many. And any money you invest in purchasing them should be recouped fairly rapidly via the reductions in spoiled food. If you have a deep chest freezer you owe it to yourself to purchase a set of stackable freezer baskets.

The Essential Walk-In Fridge

For restaurant and other food related business owners refrigeration is just one of the many purchases to consider when opening or expanding.   Some non-food related businesses that may utilize a walk in fridge could include florists, mortuaries, labs, hospitals, pharmacies, vets, animal shelters or manufacturers that require the refrigeration of medicines or product ingredients. There are several options when it comes to configuration and brand selection, and most often larger establishments will opt for a walk in fridge. A walk in fridge is like a walk in closet, as compared to a regular closet where you are opening a door, surveying the contents, and then reaching in to grab what you need, with a walk in fridge, you are actually walking into a room (size varies) that is fully refrigerated. As you can imagine the cost of a walk in refrigerator continues after the initial purchase, with energy consumption.

Design Features
Most commercial regulations require units to be no warmer than 40 degrees, and a thermometer clearly showing the temperature. To be sure that you meet these regulations, a typical commercial thermometer can be found at a reasonable price.

In some cases a walk in fridge is an entire existing room that has been converted by adding insulation and refrigeration units. In this case there is always an insulating barrier at all egresses, like a plastic curtain or swinging doors. Perhaps you’ve seen doors like this at your local grocery store near the dairy or meat and seafood departments. They ensure that the cold is staying in and heat is staying out, while still making the refrigerated areas accessible, especially for carts or pallets of food.

The other type of walk in fridge can be bought as a freestanding unit that is installed into a space. Often looking almost like a safe, the units vary in size and can be custom made. They are usually clad in stainless steel. This is the type of walk in fridge that is commonly used in restaurants. They can also have glass doors, which is often the case in convenience store or beer walk ins.

Choosing a Brand
There are numerous suppliers and manufacturers of walk in fridges. Choosing a local distributor can save a lot on shipping, and most large cities have a restaurant supply district for browsing. This is a neighborhood devoted to selling all things restaurant related. Depending on the city they can be anywhere from just a block of storefronts to more than four blocks square and can be great resources just for window shopping and comparing prices between new and used set ups. Some major American based brands include:

  • Kolpak
  • Bush Refrigeration
  • Polar King
  • U.S. Cooler.

When choosing a brand, here are a few things to consider, keeping in mind that local is better:

  • How big of a unit do you need?
  • What are the delivery costs?
  • What is the biggest dimension and how are you going to get it into your space?
  • Who will install it?
  • Where was the unit manufactured?
  • Where were the components manufactured? (Material like insulation, hardware, seals, and metal… does it make a difference where it was assembled if all the parts are shipping from overseas?)
  • What is the life cycle of the unit and how will it be recycled when it is no longer working or needed?
  • How much electricity does it use?
  • What kind of warrantee does it have for both parts and service?

Walk in fridges and walk in freezers are effective at keeping large quantities of foods and other goods cool, and often more efficient than several smaller reach in units. The fact that they are so customizable makes them an option for virtually any space. There are an infinite number of design options and plenty of reputable manufactures and suppliers in the US to make any refrigeration vision come to fruition.

Electrolux Fridge Background

The storied firm Electrolux produces all sort of household appliances under a variety of brand names, these include – Electrolux, AEG-Electrolux, Frigidaire and Eureka.  In particular, when it comes to refrigeration, they bring us the Frigidaire and AEG Electrolux fridge freezer lines.

When it comes to cooling, there are several basic model types of Electrolux refrigerators available.  I will briefly visit the various  model types here, you will there are is plenty of choice for those interested in Electrolux Fridge Freezers.

Side By Side Refrigerators

The Electrolux side-by-side model line consists of a freezer on the left, and a fridge on the right.  Each compartment has a separate door.  The freezer door has a built in filtered water and ice dispenser.  Electrolux lists an MSRP of between $2200 and $3100 USD for their side-by-side model line.  Note, in some parts of the world this style of fridge is referred to as an ‘American Fridge‘ or ‘American Style Fridge Freezer‘.

French Door Refrigerators

A French door fridge is what you get when you cross a side-by-side fridge freezer with a bottom-freezer refrigerator.  You have two doors into the refrigerator, and a separate freezer with its own door below.  Behind the freezer door you will find individual freezer drawers that slide out to allow for ease of storage and access within the freezer.  The MSRP’s on the Electrolux range of French door fridge freezers varies from $2700 all the way up to $3700.

Beverage Center

The Electrolux fridge freezer range also includes a stainless steel ‘Beverage Center’, with an MSRP of $1700 dollars.  While they call it a beverage center, to the rest of us it is really a bar fridge. This particular mini-bar refrigerator is not short of features and it definitely more upscale than many of its competitors.  The unit has a built in Air Filter to keep the air clean.  As a display fridge, it is a refrigerator with a glass door. This particular door incorporates UV protection into the glass to protect the contents from sunlight.

Refrigerator Drawers

This is something you may not have encountered before.  The Electrolux Stainless Steel ‘Refrigerator Drawers’ appliance can best be described as a set of metallic refrigerated dressers.  At $2200 MSRP is it difficult to think of an application that justifies this expense.  Even their Bar Fridge is more reasonably priced.  Still, if you have a high end home if could perhaps find a home in an entertainment room for storage of refrigerated snacks.

Under Counter Ice Maker

The $2000 Electrolux  Ice Maker looks like another Appliance looking for an application.  It is able to produce 60lbs of ice in a day.  Honestly, if I needed more ice in a day than my regular fridge freezer is able to produce; I would run to the store and buy a few bags.  Still, they do offer this appliance, so there must be consumers willing to buy it somewhere.

As you can see, when it comes to high end fridges and fridge-freezers, there is a large selection of Electrolux fridge models to choose from.  They continually innovate when it comes to designing new refrigerators – take a look at the Infinity I-kitchen to see some of their current design ideas.

Counter Depth Refrigerators – Pros and Cons

Counter depth refrigerators give the look of a built in unit by sitting flush with kitchen counters and cabinetry. They come in many different configurations and are a standard option for most appliance manufacturers in this day and age. They are simply freestanding refrigerators with a shallower depth. The typical kitchen counter is 24”, so you can imagine how this cuts down the refrigerators capacity a little bit. However, they are cheaper than the flush alternative of a built in.

Numerous Options
Counter depth refrigerators come with as many design options as any freestanding or built-in unit. They are available side-by-side, top freezer, bottom freezer, and even with French doors. They can be purchased with or without ice and filtered water dispensers, and most features remain the same from brand to brand depending on your needs. Some popular brands that manufacture counter depth refrigerators are the same ones you would look to for any other refrigerator and include Frigidaire, LG, Electrolux, and GE. The same finish options are available as well, including the popular custom panel, to create a seamless looking spread of cabinets.

Smaller Capacity
The largest counter depth refrigerators and side-by-side units and run right around 23 cubic feet of interior space. This isn’t much smaller than a typical bottom or top freezer. And in some cases they are a good alternative if you aren’t necessarily looking for a huge refrigerator, say you eat out a lot, are single, or live in a really small apartment. Some interesting design options for tiny living could be a counter depth unit or something tall and skinny.

Dollars and Cents
Buying a new refrigerator is a big commitment and investment. If you have your heart set on a built in, but just can’t afford it, a counter depth freestanding unit is a smart alternative. The aesthetic is there, but the price tag is not as jaw dropping. And if you end up moving a freestanding unit will be easier to take with you if you decide to do so. Alternatively if the decision is between a standard dimensioned freestanding unit that will protrude past your cabinet line, and a counter depth built in, consider if aesthetic alone is worth the price difference. For example, an average built in unit will cost you around $5,000 depending of course on make and model. A freestanding unit of the same brand and comparable size will run you around $1,100 and a counter depth will run you right around $2,800. What is the look of your kitchen worth to you?

All and all, you are not limiting the configuration, be it side-by-side, top or bottom freezer, by considering a counter depth unit, if anything it’s commendable to be aesthetically minded and searching for cost effective alternatives to some more expensive, but beautifully integrated, units.

LG Fridge Freezers

Established in 1958, LG is one of the best brands when it comes to fridge freezers, side by side refrigerators and fridges in general. LG fridge freezers are the ultimate American fridge freezer produced with true American standards in mind.

The LG refrigerator freezer is famous for its being energy efficient. Aside from that with the 606 liters of gross capacity of its side by side refrigerators, an owner of an LG does not have to worry about space. Thoughtfully designed for the needs of the individual and of families, side by side LG refrigerators and freezers have their own water and ice dispensers. There are 2 drawers for the freezer and a crisper drawer for items that do not need to be frozen.

Many of the fridge freezers LG manufactures come with the bioshield, which means that the gasket has anti microbial agents that prevent mold from growing on the outside or on the seal. Mold can destroy the seal of the fridge that is why LG had to find ways to prevent distortion on the gasket and to make the said appliance last for generations. Apart from that, the bioshield keeps the food inside your LG fridge safe from contamination.

The icemaker in LGs’ American style fridge freezers is built in and can be used from the outside, saving energy and space at the same time. Another great feature of this LG product is its moisture balance crisper. Unlike storage drawers or bins from other brands that destroy food because of moisture, LG fridges have a unique sheet that stops accumulation of water and maintains its temperature to keep your fruits and vegetables fresh. This also enables the fresh fruits and vegetables to stay as fresh as possible for a longer period of time.

When it comes to space, this LG freezer has added 10% more capacity, which means there is more space for your frozen goods. To be able to increase the space, LG thought that they should relocate the freezer to the door to increase the space in the icebox. Products like these include the GRP247JHMV, the GWL207FBQA, and the GWL207FLQA.

The GRP247JHMV is a side-by-side fridge that has a gross capacity of 673 liters, more than the regular LG side-by-side. This uber chic fridge is environmentally friendly and boasts a bar area where you can get your favorite beverages without having to open the door. The homebar as LG calls it also has can holders to hold those soda cans.  Like the regular LG, it also has 10% more space for the freezer and a moisture balance crisper. Along with these features, this model also has a filtered water dispenser and an ice dispenser to boot.  Like the other models, it has digital sensors that make it easier for owners to select the temperature within the fridge.

With a wide selection of quality fridges to choose from, LG is sure to have a model to suit your needs.

Sub Zero Wine Refrigerator

For a true wine lover, a wine storage or a wine cooler is the best option to keep your wine collection chilled in the right temperature.  And if you are looking for the best chilled wine storage, the line-up of Sub Zero wine refrigerator selections is very hard to beat.

In general, all sub zero refrigerator designs are famous for their utmost cooling performance tied to a deluxe refrigerator design.  But when it comes to storing a huge number of wine bottles, it is best to keep them inside a Sub-Zero wine storage unit rather than store them inside a typical refrigerator.  Why is this?

Good wine refrigerators are built to have the right temperature to keep your wine chilled perfectly.  The standard refrigerator is too cold, and may adversely affect the quality and flavor of your wine over time.

If you can’t afford to build a full-blown wine cellar inside your house then buying a wine refrigerator is a very viable alternative; especially if it is from Sub-Zero.

A Sub-Zero wine storage cooling center can easily accommodate 130 bottles of wine – just the right number of wine bottles for the typical wine collector. While multi-millionaires may have a larger collection, if you buy quality wines it will be difficult to fill one of these unit without spending a vast sum of money.

The exterior design overlay of a Sub-Zero wine refrigerator is highly customizable – you can opt for the classic custom wood design for a traditionally styled home or go contemporary with the stainless steel finish.

At the outset, the subzero wine fridge may appear like any other refrigerator; but when you open it, you will realize how well space is optimized in this wine cooler.  With discreet soft and low lighting, your treasured collection of wine bottles is elegantly displayed.

With wire shelves and natural cherry word roller-glide shelves there are beautiful storage options inside.  For the more high-end options – such as the Sub-Zero 427 Wine Storage – the two different wine compartments have individual temperature and humidity controls.  These exquisite dual compartment wine storage units really reflect high sub zero refrigerator prices however. If your installation space is contrained you should consider the Subzero 315W wine storage which is only a little over 15-inches in width

Your Sub Zero wine cooler can be installed in an integrated manner – similar to many other sub zero fridges – between counters or cabinets, or it can be freestanding like the 424 Sub-Zero refrigerator.  A Subzero wine cellar provides a lot of flexibility in this area with their wide selection. The large Sub Zero WS-30 wine storage unit is capable of housing almost 150 bottles, and can easily be built-in to your wall for a very stylish look.

This rust-proof wine refrigerator does not come cheap though. It is not surprising that Subzero prices for fridges are very high, as they are one of the best brands out there. However, if you truly value your wines – and have the budget to afford them – Sub-Zero wine storage options are well worth the money.

One of the major benefits of looking at a Rival ice cream maker is that there are so many inexpensive models, ranging from $25 to $50.  Many of the designs produced by Rival are not fancy or “commercial grade,” but they are simple, easy to use, and get the job done 1 to 6 quarts at a time.  As with their Cuisinart competitors, the users manuals are available for download online.  The Rivals homemade ice cream makers might look simple with an outside blue bucket and the mechanics located within, but they make delicious ice cream and have a strong reputation among happy consumers.

Krups ice cream makers

Krups International enjoyed a strong reputation for making high quality ice cream makers, so much so that you can still find people searching for these appliances online despite the fact that Krups discontinued these appliances back in 2007!  A Krups ice cream maker even included a little LCD screen to keep track of the progress and let the user know when the ice cream was actually ready, eliminating the guess work.  These included feeder bowls to add ingredients during the process, and it was a little bit of a surprise when the Krups homemade ice cream makers were discontinued.

These are some of the major names out there for homemade ice cream makers, and while they differ widely from one another, all of them have earned a reputation among consumers as companies who create a quality ice cream maker.
